Long descriptionCD1 molecules are 49kDa type 1 membrane glycoproteins that contain a single Ig-like domain, which associate with beta-2 microglobulin to form a heterodimer. The CD1 glycoproteins function as antigen-presenting molecules for exogenous and endogenous lipids, glycolipids and lipopeptides to specialised T cells. The CD1 molecules show some sequence similarities to major histocompatibility (MHC) class I and class II molecules, but are not encoded by the MHC genes and are not significantly polymorphic. In humans, the CD1 genes encode five isoforms of CD1, namely CD1a-e, with each type reported to show a different pattern of expression on cells and within different tissues. CD1a, b and c belong to group 1 of the CD1 family and are expressed by dendritic cells, activated monocytes and other antigen-presenting cells. CD1a is also expressed by some malignancies of T cell lineage and is commonly used as a marker of dendritic cell populations.
Antibody come fromCBT6 is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody derived by the fusion of NS0 mouse myeloma cells with spleen cells from a BALB/c mouse immunized with a T-lymphocyte derived antigen.
Other descriptionEach vial contains 500 µl 0.2 mg/ml purified monoclonal antibody in phosphated buffered saline (PBS) containing 50% glycerol + 0.2% bovine serum albumin (BSA) + 0.02% sodium azide.

ApplicationELISA, Flow cytometry, Immunocytochemistry, Immunohistochemistry (frozen)
Antibody's suited forThe CBT6 antibody is suitable for the detection of CD1a by ELISA and flow cytometry. The antibody is also suitable for the detection of CD1a by immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry on frozen tissues. Optimal antibody dilutions for the different applications should be determined by titration.

TestMouse or mice from the Mus musculus species are used for production of mouse monoclonal antibodies or mabs and as research model for humans in your lab. Mouse are mature after 40 days for females and 55 days for males. The female mice are pregnant only 20 days and can give birth to 10 litters of 6-8 mice a year. Transgenic, knock-out, congenic and inbread strains are known for C57BL/6, A/J, BALB/c, SCID while the CD-1 is outbred as strain.
